Pleurotus tuber-regium
ISG X. Pleurotus tuber-regium (Fries) Singer. 1951 Lilloa 22: 271
História nomenklatúry: Ramph (1750) použil polynomické pomenovanie tohoto druhu. Fries (1821) polynóm prebral a hubu včlenil pod rod Agaricus a začlenil ju do kmeňa Omphalimae, podkmeňa Lentiscyphi. Najviac komplexných prác o tejto hube pochádza z Nigérie, kde P. tuber - regium, vlastne jej skleróciá slúžia ako potrava a prebiehajú tam pokusy komercializáciu tejto huby (Oso, 1977; Okhuomya a i, 1988; Nwokolo, 1983; Isikhuemhen, Okhuoya, 1996).
P. tuber – regium je jediným taxónom Pleurotus spp. pri ktorom bazídie (plodnice) vyrastajú zo sklerócií. Lentinus teptroleucus produkuje podobné, ale lamelované bazídie z pseudosklerócií (Pegler, 1983) a neidentifikovateľná subtropická Lentinus vytvára tmavohnedé plodnice s veľmi tmavými purpurovými lamelami z pravých sklerócií.

I was surprised to see this information here.Well, a lot has become known aboout this fungus. A PhD thesis I wrote from working on this interesting fungus, is avalable from the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, where I studied. The breeding in this fungus and the development of new strains from crosses between isolates from Asia and Africa are published in Mycological Research (2000) and World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology (2000). Recent studies and research on the food and nutritional properties of the sclerotia from this fungus abounds in literature. An excellent review on food and medicinal properties of this fungus will be coming out soon in the International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms.
Thank you for your interest on this fngus which I have studied from 21 years already.
